North Street

Part of the Greater Halifax metropolitan area, North Street is a neighbourhood within Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Transportation

Driving is very often the preferred way to navigate North Street. It is a reasonably short drive to the closest highway from any location in this neighbourhood, and it is especially convenient to park. On the other hand, public transit users may experience limited options in North Street due to the service's low frequency. Thankfully, there are a few bus lines traversing the neighbourhood, and bus stops are not very far away from most residences. Walking is not especially convenient for residents in this area since few daily needs can be carried out on foot. North Street is also not particularly bike-friendly because bicycling is made difficult by the often hilly terrain, and the cycling network is not very well-developed.

Services

Families will value the proximity to daycares and schools, which are within walking distance from most houses for sale in North Street. In terms of eating, it is usually possible for house buyers in this part of the municipality to purchase groceries on foot. Furthermore, a cafe is often just around the corner.

Character

The character of North Street is exemplified by its slower-paced environment. Green spaces are easy to get to since there are a few of them close by for residents to explore. This part of the municipality is also very quiet, as there are generally low levels of noise from traffic.

Housing

Around two thirds of the dwellings in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners whereas the remainder are rented. The substantial proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this part of the municipality is an important part of its character. Roughly one third of homes in this neighbourhood were built in the 1960s and 1970s, while the majority of the remaining buildings were constructed pre-1960 and in the 1980s. This neighbourhood is primarily composed of four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes.
