Lakeshore

Lakeshore is a neighbourhood within Baie-D'Urfé, Quebec, which is situated in the Greater Montreal metropolitan area.

Transportation

The car is very often the best method to get around in Lakeshore. Many houses for sale are a short drive from the nearest highway, such as Autoroute du Souvenir, and it is especially convenient to park. However, Lakeshore is not very transit friendly. Thankfully, homeowners benefit from the Gare Baie-d'Urfé with access to the 11 - Vaudreuil/Hudson. There are a few bus lines crossing the neighbourhood, and the closest bus stop is generally just around the corner. It is at times challenging to commute by bike in Lakeshore as the terrain is not particularly flat, and the cycling infrastructure is not very comprehensive. It is also impractical for people walking to get around in Lakeshore because common amenities such as hair salons or hardware stores can be an extended walk away.

Services

It is a short walk to get to primary schools and high schools from most properties for sale in this part of the city. Families have the choice between public and private primary schools. On the other hand, it can be challenging to reach daycares on foot. When it comes to food, it is convenient to access the nearest grocery store by walking from any location in Lakeshore. There are also a few restaurants in this part of Baie-D'Urfé.

Character

Lakeshore is a wonderful neighbourhood to buy a home in for those who prefer a slower-paced atmosphere. Greenery is reasonably present in this part of Baie-D'Urfé as the tree canopy coverage for most streets is good. Public green spaces, such as Parc Fritz, are especially well-distributed and there are a few of them close by for residents to relax in, which makes it easy to get to them. Most areas in this neighbourhood are especially quiet, as there isn't a lot of street noise or city clamour closer to Autoroute du Souvenir.

Housing

The homes in this area are quite old, since the majority of its buildings were built prior to the 1960s, while most of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1980s. The sizeable proportion of single detached homes in the housing stock of this neighbourhood is an important part of its character. Roughly all of the units in the neighbourhood are occupied by homeowners while the remainder are rented. There is a higher proportion of four or more bedroom homes in this part of the city.
