Part of the Greater Toronto Area metropolitan area, West Humber is a neighbourhood within Toronto, Ontario.

Transportation

The best way to navigate West Humber is usually a car. It is very convenient to access a place to park, and it is a very short car ride to the closest highway, such as Highway 409, from any home in this area. West Humber is also reasonably transit friendly. In particular, property owners benefit from the Etobicoke North with access to the Kitchener. The neighbourhood is served by approximately 20 bus lines, and it is very easy to find a nearby bus stop from most homes. The bicycle is a rather limited mode of transportation in this part of the city because the topography is not particularly flat, and there are few bike lanes. Thankfully, biking is more feasible in certain pockets than others. There are also relatively few pedestrians out on the streets of this neighbourhood, although many daily needs are convenient to carry out without having to resort to a car.

Services

Some, but not all, property owners in West Humber will reside within walking distance of the nearest supermarket. There are also over 50 restaurants and cafes in this area. Concerning education, parents and their kids will find that wherever their home is situated in West Humber, primary schools are nearby. On the other hand, there are only a limited number of high schools and consequently they can be an extended walk away. Parents have the choice between public and private high schools.

Character

West Humber offers an extensive selection of green spaces to enjoy. To be more specific, there are about 30 public green spaces close by for residents to discover, such as Royal Woodbine Golf Club, and they are very well-situated, which makes them very easy to reach. At the same time, there are few tree-lined streets. Finally, this part of the city can be rather noisy, as traffic during rush hour can occasionally be loud.

Housing

In West Humber, most dwellings are single detached homes, but duplexes are also present in the housing stock. This neighbourhood offers mainly four or more bedroom and three bedroom homes. Homeowners occupy about 80% of the properties in the neighbourhood while the remainder are rented. About 40% of homes in this part of the city were built before the 1960s, while many of the remaining buildings were constructed in the 1960s and the 1990s.
